The Palacete Severo occupies a patrician residence from 1904, avenue Ricardo Severo, a stone's throw from the Casa da Música. We count eight rooms, all different, high stuccoed ceilings, solid oak parquet, bathrooms in Estremoz marble. The indoor pool under the original glass roof alone justifies the detour, zenithal light, blue mosaics, teak banquettes. The spa offers Voya treatments and hammam, the restaurant serves contemporary Portuguese cuisine in the former music salon. From 512 € per night, we sleep in a listed monument without the dusty museum feel. The service remains discreet, never obsequious, we feel invited rather than customers. Booking score 9,6/10 from 198 reviews, rare consistency for a palace of this size ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the Palacete Severo to couples seeking the intimacy of a manor house without forgoing palace services. An address for wedding anniversaries, long weekends, travellers who prefer eight rooms to two hundred. Families with children will find their place, yet the atmosphere stays hushed, clientele mostly adult.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The palace dates from 1904, commissioned by engineer Ricardo Severo, figure of the neo-manueline revival in Porto. Pink granite façade, bow-windows, period azulejos in the hall. Interiors restored in 2018: original stuccos preserved, contemporary Portuguese furniture (Wewood, Greenapple), bespoke brushed-brass lighting. Eight rooms between 28 and 45 m², each with marble fireplace, some with balcony overlooking the avenue.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The restaurant occupies the former music salon, coffered ceiling, bay windows onto the rear garden. Contemporary Portuguese cuisine by João Rodrigues, trained with Henrique Sá Pessoa: Matosinhos octopus, revisited duck rice, Niepoort port desserts. Breakfast served until 11h30, buffet and à la carte, homemade pastéis de nata. Cocktail bar in the original library, vintage port collection, open until midnight.
