We recommend the Koukoumi to thirty- and forty-something couples sensitive to plant-based eating, who shun the beach clubs of Psaroú. It's an address for wellness retreats, discreet honeymoons, detox weekends without forgoing palace comfort. Vegetarian families find a rare refuge in Greece here, where the children's menu exists without being a compromise.

The Koukoumi is a recent build in contemporary Cycladic style: white cubic volumes, flat roofs, driftwood pergolas. Minimalist interiors with bespoke light oak furniture, natural textiles (linen, cotton, jute), indirect lighting. The fifteen rooms are organised around a central patio with pool, each with a private terrace of 12 to 20 m². The scale remains intimate, far from 150-key resorts.

The Koukoumi restaurant serves entirely plant-based Mediterranean cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We tasted the smoked aubergine moussaka with cashew béchamel, quinoa-stuffed dolmades, agave syrup baklava: the technique is there, the flavours too. The chef works with local producers (plant-based cheeses from Náxos, vegetables from Tínos). Room service available until 22h, well-stocked natural Greek wine list.

Ano Mera lies at the centre of Mykonos, eight kilometres from Mykonos Town and the port. The village houses the Panagía Tourlianí monastery (18th century) and a handful of family tavernas. Elia, Kalafatis and Fokos beaches are ten minutes by car. The airport is fifteen minutes away, shuttle included. The neighbourhood is calm, residential, frequented by Greeks: here you escape the cruise ship hordes and Scorpios DJ sets.
