5th-floor pool with direct views over the cruise port and yachts at Bayside Marketplace.
BusinessPlageRooftopIconiqueFamille

L'InterContinental Miami occupies a 34-storey building at the end of Brickell Avenue, facing the port. We sleep in standard IHG rooms refurbished in 2019, beige marble, floor-to-ceiling windows, bay or skyline views depending on the floor. The pool on the 5th remains the real draw: teak sunloungers, swim-up bar, no crowds even in high season. The Elemis spa offers decent treatments, nothing memorable. From 234 € a night, it's the best value for a 5★ Downtown with pool and direct access to Bayside. Service is professional, never warm, typical of big chains. We recommend for cruise stopovers and business stays that want the bay without paying South Beach ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the InterContinental to business travellers who want the bay without the South Beach bustle, and to families on cruise stopovers (the port is 800 metres away). It's a hotel for fortysomethings and fiftysomethings who prefer Downtown to Miami Beach, business dinners at Toro Toro, meetings in the 6th-floor rooms. Couples on romantic weekends will find better in Design District or Coconut Grove, the vibe remains very corporate.

The building

Architecture and interiors

L'InterContinental Miami occupies a 34-storey tower built in 1982, renovated in 2019. Postmodern architecture typical of 1980s Miami, smoked-glass and white-concrete facade. Entrance hall in Carrara marble, Murano crystal chandeliers, 8-metre ceilings. The rooms are classic IHG, light wood and beige marble, 32 to 65 m² for standards.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The Toro Toro serves pan-American cuisine by Richard Sandoval, decent ceviches, charcoal grills, South American wine list. The breakfast buffet at Café Americano remains generic, Eggs Benedict and pancakes, nothing justifying the 38 $ per person. The pool bar serves classic cocktails until 22h, well-balanced mojitos and margaritas. Room service operates 24h/24, reduced menu after midnight.

Highlights

  • 5th-floor pool with panoramic views over Biscayne Bay
  • 100 Chopin Plaza, 3 minutes on foot from Bayside Marketplace
  • 650 m² Elemis spa with 8 treatment rooms
  • Toro Toro restaurant by chef Richard Sandoval, pan-American cuisine
  • Rooms from 32 to 280 m², all with full-height windows

Location & access

Where the hotel sits in Miami

The hotel stands at the end of Brickell Avenue, between Downtown and Miami port. Bayside Marketplace 3 minutes on foot, Pérez Art Museum 10 minutes. The neighbourhood buzzes by day (offices, courts), calms after 19h, very safe but not very residential.
