The candy-pink palace of Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood haunt since 1912.

“Private bungalows in 5 hectares of tropical gardens, historic refuge of the stars since Marilyn Monroe.”
The Beverly Hills Hotel occupies a slice of Californian legend at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Drive. We recognise from afar the pink façade and white stripes, backdrop to a hundred films and a thousand society scandals. The rooms blend floral chintz, 1940s furniture and Italian marble bathrooms, some with terrace over the palms. The Polo Lounge remains the HQ for agents and producers at breakfast, McCarthy Salad and Cobb Salad served since 1960. The cabana pool draws a discreet crowd, dark glasses and embroidered robes. From 1 878 € a night, we pay as much for the myth as the comfort, yet Dorchester Collection service delivers. A required stop to grasp what Hollywood glamour once was ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Beverly Hills to travellers who wish to touch the Hollywood myth without slipping into a theme park. It suits couples in their forties and beyond, wedding anniversaries, reunions of old friends, a few affluent families seeking history. Young tech entrepreneurs often favour West Hollywood, yet habitués of the European palace feel at home here.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1912, erected by Margaret J. Anderson on land then empty between Los Angeles and the ocean. Californian Mission Revival architecture, salmon-pink façade repainted every four years, red-tiled roofs. Interiors refreshed in 2018: lacquered emerald woodwork at the Polo Lounge, Martinique wallpapers by Don Loper in the corridors, palm-pattern carpets. The 210 rooms and suites are split between the main wing and 23 independent bungalows nestled in the gardens.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Polo Lounge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner amid bottle-green banquettes and equestrian portraits. Classic Californian menu: Cobb Salad, Dover sole meunière, Wagyu steaks, McCarthy Salad created for the MGM studio boss. The Cabana Café by the pool offers a lighter card, açai bowls and fish tacos. Bar Nineteen12 for evening cocktails, list signed by barman Charles Joly. 24/7 room service, full menu available in room or bungalow.
