“Three 18-hole golf courses designed by Michael Campbell, Nicklaus Jr. and Ballesteros, accessible to resort residents.”
L'Anantara Villa Padierna Palace occupies a hill eight kilometres north of Marbella, in a 180-hectare resort planted with olive trees and umbrella pines. The architecture follows the codes of Tuscan palaces: ochre facades, colonnades, stone fountains, inner courtyards paved with marble. The rooms display a classic European style, damask fabrics, carved wooden furniture, travertine bathrooms. The Anantara spa extends over 2,000 m² with hammam, Finnish sauna, heated indoor pool and treatment cabins inspired by Thai rituals. Two outdoor pools (one Olympic, one family) overlook the valley, view as far as the Mediterranean on clear days. We tested the shuttle service to Puerto Banús (15 minutes), practical to avoid the car. From 660 € per night, a resort palace that bets on golf and well-being rather than on the beach ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Anantara Villa Padierna to golfers who want to play three courses without leaving the resort, and to families seeking a palace with space (pools, gardens, family rooms). Couples will appreciate the spa and the calm of the hills, far from the bustle of Puerto Banús. The clientele is international, between forty and seventy years old, here for stays of three to seven nights with a rental car.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The palace was built in the 2000s, adopting the architectural codes of 18th-century Tuscan villas. Ochre facades with colonnades, Roman tile roofs, inner courtyards with stone fountains and arcades. The interiors blend Carrara marble, carved woodwork, crystal chandeliers and Renaissance-inspired furniture. The scale is imposing (130 rooms spread across several buildings), yet the 180-hectare gardens dilute the density.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The resort has three tables: La Veranda for Mediterranean cuisine on the terrace, the Puente Romano for grills and fish, the Café Andaluz for buffet breakfasts and light lunches. The La Loggia bar serves cocktails and tapas facing the main pool. Room service operates 24/7, reduced menu after midnight. No Michelin stars, yet solid palace cooking without gastronomic pretension.
