The Barracks Hotel Sentosa occupies the former Gunner Lane barracks, a 1904 colonial building restored in 2019 by Far East Hospitality. The rooms blend original beams, teak parquet and contemporary furniture signed by Singaporean designers. We bed down in volumes of 38 to 65 m², sash windows overlooking the tropical canopy or the infinity pool. Siloso Beach is reached on foot in three minutes, no shuttle needed. Rates start at 325 € per night, which remains accessible for a 5★ in Singapore with free private parking. The Booking score of 9.5/10 from 364 reviews reflects attentive service and true coherence between heritage promise and current comfort ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend The Barracks to travellers seeking a beach 5★ without leaving Singapore, families with children (secure pool, calm beach) or couples after a heritage weekend away from the city centre. The hotel also suits groups of friends, the barracks layout offering interconnecting rooms and generous communal spaces. Fans of colonial architecture and contemporary Singaporean design find a rare balance between memory and comfort here.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Gunner Lane barracks was built in 1904 to house the British gunners of Fort Siloso. Single-storey red-brick building, arcaded galleries, glazed-tile roofs. The 2019 restoration preserved the wrought-iron beams, original sash windows and terrazzo floors. Interiors signed by Singaporean studio Asylum, which mixed woven-rattan furniture, brushed-brass lighting and works by local artists. The scale remains intimate, 40 rooms spread across two wings.
